Upstage Xperience gets headstart on Vincy Mas 2014

The Upstage Xperience, home of the National Calypso and Ragga Soca Monarchs, is aiming to prepare itself early for Vincy Mas 2014.{{more}}

The tent will convene a general meeting on January 31, 2014 to assess and finalize its cast, launch date and tent shows for the new Carnival season.

The tent’s stellar contribution to Vincy Mas included the top three places in the Calypso and Ragga Soca competitions and two of the top three positions in the Soca contest. The tent also captured third place in the Calypso category of the New Song competition.

The first show for the 2014 season is tentatively set to return to the Nutmeg House in Mesopotamia and organizers are hoping to visit at least one other rural venue this year. In addition, plans are advanced for a presentation at a new venue in Kingstown that is in keeping with the tent’s objective of presenting professional and diverse performances in a people friendly setting.

The Upstage Xperience has pioneered the fusion of young and experienced Calypso, Ragga Soca, and Soca artistes. The tent is therefore inviting those interested in developing their skills to attend the meeting or to apply for membership.

The band Rage, which hails from South Windward and is led by John Daisley, was an integral part of the tent’s success in 2013 and will again support the tent with its rich music in 2014.
