A release from TGHF said the Conference has been postponed because of the extensive damage and loss of infrastructure in St Vincent and the Grenadines as a result of torrential rains and flooding on December 24.

The conference will now take place from March 13 to 15, 2015, in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The orginally scheduled date was March 13 to 16, 2014. The first International Garifuna Conference was held from March 10 to 13, 2012 in St Vincent and the Grenadines and concluded with the issuing of the Yurumei Declaration.

The Yurumei Declaration called for, among other things, the convening of an Annual Garifuna Studies Conference or colloquium in Yurumei.
