The event is slated to take place this Saturday, December 14 at the playground at Arnos Vale.

The event will feature the location’s hyped characters, as well as a number of added attractions, including the Groundbreakers Dance Group, the Sion Hill School Choir, Man CP, Fireman Hooper, and of course, Santa Claus.

The Family Fun Day, in its sixth year, was put together by Georgietha “Aunty G” Nanton and others from the Georgetown and surrounding communities, in an attempt to give the less fortunate a taste of Christmas cheer.

The group has received gifts from individuals and organizations here at home and in the diaspora, which will be distributed to the children.

Nanton said that the group is hoping to take the event from a community level to a national one, by hosting it at a more centralized location this year.

The group also plans to distribute toys and gifts in the Georgetown communities on Christmas Day.

Transportation from Sandy Bay and Georgetown to Backyard Adventures and back will be provided.
