Anglicans to hold Advent Mission Service

Sunday December 1 marks the start of the season of Advent which signals the beginning of the church’s year. The Anglican Archdeaconry of St Vincent and the Grenadines will host its annual Advent Mission Service on Sunday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m. at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.{{more}}

The service will be preceded by a procession of witness of clergy and laity in the Archdeaconry. The Advent Mission will be celebrated under the theme: “Anglicans deepening the bonds of affection – through an abiding relationship with Jesus.”

The preacher is Trinidadian born the Reverend Shelly Ann Tenia. She completed a BSc in Psychology, with a Minor concentration in Human Services Counselling at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia) and a Master of Divinity (Virginia Theological Seminary) USA. She is an Anglican priest in the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago and currently serves as the priest in charge of Holy Saviour Parish, Curepe, Trinidad.

Reverend Tenia has worked as a house manager at The Dwelling Place, a homeless family shelter, as a social worker at Credo Centre for Boys, and has volunteered with various NGO’s and FBO’s which do outreach to vulnerable communities and families. Reverend Tenia was ordained Deacon by Bishop Calvin Bess on May 14, 2005 and to the priesthood on October 28, 2006.

A culture afternoon, organized by the Youth Ministry within the Archdeaconry, will commence at 2 p.m.
