Digicel holds business seminar

Telecommunications company Digicel has the expertise, products and services to partner with customers to overcome a wide range of problems that a company might face.{{more}}

The company, which has been operating in St Vincent and the Grenadines for over 10 years now, last week held a business seminar at Flow Wine Bar on James Street, where their personnel spoke about a number of the company’s business solutions.

Corporate Sales Manager at Digicel Brenda Barbour-Charles, speaking at the business seminar, said that companies these days face a wide range of challenges, which may include flexible working practices (mobility), keeping costs at a minimum, improving productivity (efficiency), security, limited capital expenditure budget and driving growth.

According to Barbour-Charles, these challenges have kept businesses more focused on trying to deal with problems, instead of concentrating on running their businesses.

“Businesses today, regardless of their size, need a technology business partner that they can rely on. Digicel Business has the know-how, the expertise, the products and services to partner with customers to overcome these challenges, leaving businesses to focus on what they do best….managing their business”, stressed Barbour-Charles.

In relation to this, Barbour-Charles said that Digicel has a number of network, managed and integration services to help businesses move forward in the modern financial climate.

In relation to network services, Barbour-Charles said that the company can offer businesses products like business broadband, fleet tracking GPS, mobile data and bulk SMS, among many others. She added that their managed services can be monitored 24/7 and include cloud solutions, which includes virtual server, virtual desktop and virtual exchange.

Barbour-Charles also spoke about the availability of Digital Signage, Unified Communications, Structured Cabling, Advanced Networking, Video Surveillance, Network Storage and WiFi (Indoor & Outdoor).

She added that in St Vincent and the Grenadines they provide these services to a number of companies, which include Courts, VINLEC, Coreas Hazells, Buccama Bay Resorts and the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines, to name a few.

Touching on other aspects of Digicel’s telecommunications capabilities, Barbour-Charles said that the company offers mobile advertising or text message advertising.

“We are always seeking innovative ways to provide competitive advantage to the business community. With the launch of mobile advertising businesses can now leverage telecommunications in a new way”, said Barbour-Charles.

She stressed that companies can now put information about products and services in the palm of the customer’s hand through advertising messaging on their phones.

“SMS messaging is the new advertising product from Digicel which gives your brand access to more than 60,000 people in St Vincent and the Grenadines through the one thing they use most of in the world, their phone”.

Explaining how it works, Barbour-Charles said that businesses can write an advertising message up to 160 characters long.

“You then speak to Digicel to tell us how many people you want to advertise your product to and then we will do the rest, which includes sending a text message to a huge number of customers”, said Barbour-Charles.

She said that persons can send as many text messages as they like.

She also spoke about USSD advertising, which she stressed, “gives your brand the opportunity to target customers when they are in a highly integrative environment, their USSD menu”. USSD stands for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data.

With USSD advertising, according to Barbour-Charles, “whenever a Digicel customer uses their phones USSD menu to check items such as phone credit balance or to use other integrative products, your brand will be positioned at the bottom of the menu as the key advertiser. The customer can then click through to a text based page featuring more information about your business”.

She said that customers who use this form of advertising can get their ads seen as many times as they like.

“The advertising model that we use is a cost per thousand model (CPM), so you simply decide how many customers you would like to promote your business to”.

Barbour-Charles said that interested persons can contact Digicel as “our team can work with you to develop a marketing plan based around the specific needs of your business”.

She added that competitive pricing will be developed based on the size and length of the campaign, while long term agreements will be specially priced.

“Digicel will work with you to make sure that your choice of advertising is clear, concise and impactful”, stressed Barbour-Charles.

The business seminar was also addressed by country manager Sean Latty, public relations officer OECS Jerry George and dealer accounts executive and sales manager Fanta Williams.

During the business seminar, a number of persons were rewarded during a Digicel giveaway. Persons walked away with the latest in Digicel products, which included Samsung and Blackberry handsets and digital devices.
