The open house is scheduled to take place from November 5 to November 8.

While speaking at the launch of this year’s Literary Fair, marketing assistant Ronnie Daniel said students will be given the chance to speak with representatives from the three main UWI campuses in the region and discuss their proposed areas of study.

“We have our colleagues who would be coming from Mona and St Augustine and hopefully Cave Hill,” Daniel said.

“We are inviting students to come and to interact personally with faculty members and admin staff on some of their interests in terms of their area of study”.

Daniel explained that the representatives will not only share information on the different programmes offered at the university, but also the requirements needed by the prospective students and most importantly, ongoing research that is taking place at the various campuses.

“Unfortunately, because of our fragmentation, we do not always keep abreast in the non-campus territories of what’s happening at the University of the West Indies, but in fact, the University of the West Indies is doing some interesting research in various areas and it’s an opportunity at open house for the students and Vincentian public to hear what’s happening at the University of the West Indies,” he said.

Furthermore, the marketing assistant revealed that approximately nine schools and various divisions of the Community College will be visited by the representatives of UWI during the week long open house, while on November 8, an open day will be held on site at the Open Campus.

The schools that will be visited include the Union Island Secondary School, the Bequia Community High School, the Petit Bordel Secondary School, the St Vincent Grammar School, the Girls’ High School, the George Stephens Secondary School, the St Joseph’s Convent, the Intermediate High School and the Sandy Bay Secondary School.(BK)
