Eden Memorial S.D.A. Church Celebrates 25 Years

The history of the Eden Memorial Seventh- day Adventist Church in Spring Village, North Leeward will never be the same. Whatever transpires between now and the end of time, present and future generations have a legacy upon which they can build their faith in God.{{more}} The church is known, not only for its humanitarian, social, and spiritual endeavours, but also for the way in which it embraces its achievements over the past few years.

During the week of August 31 to September 7, the pastors and members celebrated the church’s 25th anniversary. They left nothing to chance. Under the leadership of Pastor Ian Williams and Kenan Caine, a week of church services and social activities were mobilized in accordance with the occasion. Once everything was in place and the theme, “celebrating twenty-five years, God’s glory, our story,” was agreed upon, the stage was set for a grand finale.

Pastor Henry Snagg, executive secretary of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, started the ball rolling when he delivered the sermon on Sabbath, August 31. It was a powerful and spirit-filled experience. Pastors, Kishford Frank, Sylvan Samuel, Karlon Samuel, Ian Williams and Shane Franklyn, all from the community of Spring Village and baptized members of the said church, preached the following nights of the week, except for Thursday night which was designated for social activities. Each night was punctuated with the spirit of fellowship, worship, praise and revival, as members and community friends came out in their numbers to witness the power and presence of God.

On Sabbath September 7, the air was filled with excitement as the occasion was marked by a rededication service. The church had been renovated and it was time to put the icing on the cake. Pastor Dermoth Baptistse, president of the S.V.G. Mission of Seventh day Adventists, unveiled the rededication corner stone. In his sermon, he challenged the members to protect the beauty of the church, and let it be a place of worship, expressions of thanksgiving, acceptance, healing, forgiveness, comfort for the broken-hearted and reconciliation. In response the congregation lifted its voice in praise, adoration and affirmation. It was indeed the Pentecostal experience.

Prior to the closing of the service, Elder Cyril Charles was honoured for his outstanding years of service and dedication to the church and community. He was congratulated by the administrators, pastors church and family members. It was indeed a memorable experience. Following the midday service, the administrators and departmental directors of the mission, pastors, guests, representatives of other churches and church members were treated to a delicious and finger-licking lunch.

The celebration came to a grand climax in the afternoon with the ordination of two deacons, brothers Solomon Patterson and Rudolph Charles. Indeed, God has done marvelously. His name is mighty among his people. To him be glory and honour.
