VINSAVE celebrates fifty years of yeoman’s service

On Wednesday, July 24, VINSAVE proudly observed 50 years of yeoman’s service to the community, under the theme “50 years of Service to the Nation – Nurturing Children for a Better Tomorrow”.{{more}} The occasion was marked with a tree planting ceremony on the institution’s compound at Murray’s Road. Other activities include: launch of website; inside out story on API; newspaper articles; dinner; Sports Day; re-opening of Vinsave Layou Pre-school.

The agency has been the nation’s main non-governmental organisation providing Early Childhood Development and related services, including skills training, parenting and youth development, not only in Kingstown, but also at Byera, Layou, Mesopotamia, Chateaubelair and Troumaca. It has been the major training institution for Early Childhood educators, offering six months and one-year programmes to persons locally and in the wider Caribbean. Its annual Summer Programme is also a regular feature of the programme.

The agency’s sponsorship programme (now closed) has assisted numerous underprivileged children and their families financially; and many of these have been able to obtain prominent positions in society.

The students’ hostel and the recently built auditorium provide short-term accommodation to locals and visitors alike, and host conferences and meetings respectively.

The agency was able to construct a Community Centre at Byera, and is the recipient of a newly renovated/constructed building in Layou, to house the pre-school.

As the agency reflects on its years of existence, it is truly convinced that it has played a significant role in serving the nation, by nurturing its children.
