Minister Caesar attending special meeting in Austria

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Industry Saboto Caesar is this week attending a special conference hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in Vienna, Austria.{{more}}

The conference runs from June 3 to 7.

UNIDO is a specialized agency in the United Nations system, with the primary objective to promote and accelerate industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The organization also promotes international industrial cooperation.

A release from the ministry said the conference targets 26 countries, including Jamaica and St Vincent and the Grenadines from the Caribbean, and will discuss opportunities to boost the competitiveness of emerging and existing manufacturing industries in developing countries seeking to obtain job growth and achieve sustained economic recovery in the aftermath of a global financial crisis.
