Accident victim to be laid to rest Sunday at Georgetown

This country’s third road fatality of the year will be laid to rest on Sunday, family members say.{{more}}

Keisha Yearwood, who died at the scene of the accident that claimed her life on Monday morning, will be buried at the Georgetown cemetery, after a funeral service at the Mount Carmel Spiritual Baptist Church, her sister, Roxanne Haywood told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Chester Cottage resident was among four persons in a green Hyundai Excel (P1710), travelling from Park Hill to her home, on the island’s Windward side, when the vehicle ran off the Colonarie road and landed in a ditch.

The mother of two daughters, aged 15 and two, and a 12-year-old son, is the only passenger who died, while the three other occupants were treated for their injuries and released.

Police on Thursday informed SEARCHLIGHT that Juston Burke, Yearwood’s boyfriend and father of her children has been arrested.

The 35-year-old mason, also of Chester Cottage, was charged with being the driver of the vehicle, that caused the death of Yearwood, by driving dangerously, and by unlawful omission, causing the death of Yearwood at Colonarie.

On Wednesday last week, Jovel Glasgow, 5, of Layou was the second recorded road fatality for 2013, when he and his cousin Lenroy Adams were struck by a motor vehicle on the Layou main road.

Glasgow succumbed to head injuries at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

The first road related death was recorded on March 4, when four-month-old Peter Samuel died at the MCMH, after being ejected from a minibus that had crashed into a drain along the Dauphine main road. (JJ)
