Inter-American agencies to host exhibition in Kingstown

The Inter-American agencies resident in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will host a three-day Inter-American Exhibition at the National Public Library from Tuesday, April 30.{{more}}

The exhibition will showcase the work of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), with specific emphasis on their activities in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The exhibition is being held in a month of significance for the Inter-American Community. On Sunday, April 14, countries throughout the hemisphere celebrated Pan-American Day – a day recognized annually as a “commemorative symbol of the American nations and the voluntary union of all in one continental community”. To mark the day, the heads of the three Inter-American agencies resident in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Melene Glynn, OAS Country Representative, Michael Dalton, IICA Technical Specialist and Anneke Wilson, PAHO Country Specialist – participated in a special church service at St Sylvan’s Anglican Church in Stubbs.

April 30, the first day of the exhibition, is also a significant day – OAS Day. On that day the Inter-American community commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the Organization of American States in 1948, in Bogotá, Colombia, which brought the OAS into existence.

The Inter-American Exhibition will be launched with a short inaugural ceremony in the Library’s conference room on April 30, and will open to the general public from 10 a.m. that day in the Reference Library. It will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 30, May 2 and May 3.
