Former teacher donates books

The Thomas Saunders Secondary School was on Monday presented with approximately 500 books, courtesy Dr David Joyette, a Vincentian living in Canada.{{more}} Joyette, who hails from Murray’s Village, a former primary school teacher in St Vincent and the Grenadines, believes in the power of reading, and to this end, has on previous occasions, made similar donations, totalling approximately 3,000 books to the Grammar School, the Girls’ High School, The St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, the Community College, and his Alma Mater, the Kingstown Anglican Primary.

At the handing over ceremony on Monday, John Renton, Principal of the school, in expressing his gratitude to Dr Joyette, disclosed that a school library has been on the drawing board for quite some time; a room has been set aside for the facility and there is even a librarian on staff, so the project will now be a reality.
