National Heroes Advisory Committee meets today
The National Heroes Advisory Committee will meet today in their second regular session, a release from the committee says.The quest for another National Hero began last year when Cabinet appointed the committee, under the leadership of former government minister René Baptiste.{{more}}
Individuals, groups, organisations and institutions were subsequently invited to submit recommendations of person(s) for the conferment of the Order of National Hero.
Notices were published in the local newspapers, the Government Gazette, as well as through the offices of our embassies, missions and consulates.
The chairperson has reported that some submissions have been received, and the deadline for submissions was extended from December 17, 2012 to today â January 15.
The National Heroes Advisory Committee plans to hold a series of local consultations, and make their report to Cabinet early March 2013.
