Lime “Give a Gift this Christmas” initiative a success

Telecommunications company LIME distributed 100 gifts this Christmas as part of their “Give a Gift this Christmas” promotion.{{more}}

The initiative, which was launched on October 13, sought to “put a smile on the faces of less fortunate children throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines by giving them an unexpected gift for Christmas,” a release from LIME said.

As patrons visited the LIME main location, they were encouraged to give $1 towards this worthy cause. Every weekday, from November 15 to December 21 one lucky winner’s name was pulled from the box on a popular radio station to win a FREE ham or turkey for their donation.

By Saturday December 22, 100 gifts were purchased and distributed with the help of popular comedian – Candy Man and the LIME Santa.

The St Benedict’s Orphanage in Georgetown received gift bags for the 12 orphans there. The Prison Fellowship submitted 38 names of children whose parents are incarcerated. The Community Nurses also submitted a list of 22 names, which included children who recently lost parents to cancer. The children’s ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital had 12 kids, including little Daniel who was abandoned there.

“This is what Christmas is all about for us at LIME. It warmed my heart to see these children’s faces light up and the smiles we received were priceless,” stated Nikala Williams – marketing manager. Nikala continued: “I just want to say a big thank you to all our patrons who gave unselfishly to this cause, the corporate citizens whose donations also made this possible and the LIME retail staff who passionately pushed this initiative. This was indeed huge a success!”

The theme for LIME’s Christmas campaign this year was “Have yourself a Merry Moments Christmas”. The “Give a gift this Christmas” initiative was one of the many ways LIME shared treasured moments with Vincentians.

“This Christmas, LIME demonstrated the true meaning of ‘Value every moment’ to our customers. We offered the lowest calling rates and handset prices. Our Christmas Village provided a FREE entertainment family package to thousands of people. 28 customers won gifts for just using their LIME services and to top it all off, putting smiles on the faces of 100 less fortunate kids this Christmas. This was indeed a successful Merry Moments Christmas with LIME,” concluded general manager – Leslie Jack.
