Health minister treats staff to Christmas luncheon and retirement activity

Clayton Burgin, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, hosted a Christmas luncheon and retirement activity with staff on Tuesday.{{more}}

It was an occasion for him to wish his staff Merry Christmas and also to celebrate the contribution to national development of four stalwarts in the health sector who retired recently.

The retirees are:

Cynette Lowe, a female attendant who served for 42 years at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Sister Naomi Prince, co-ordinator of the National Family Planning Programme, served for 35 years.

Sister Carmina Walker, a family nurse practitioner, served for 35 years.

Dr St Clair Thomas, chief medical officer, who served as teacher, medical doctor and politician, retired after approximately 36 years of service.

Burgin expressed his delight and satisfaction for the dedicated contribution to national development of each of the retirees and wished them well in the winter of their years.

The four retirees underscored their gratitude, appreciation and satisfaction for the opportunity bestowed on them to facilitate the delivery of health care and urged their colleagues to continue to develop the national health sector for the benefit of all citizens, the ministry said in a release.

Permanent Secretary Luis de Shong, in his capacity as master of ceremonies of the proceedings, also thanked the four retirees for their outstanding service to the nation, emphasising that they each played their part and played it well. He also thanked the members of staff for planning such a successful activity.
