Kay Bacchus-Browne attends funeral in South Korea

Local director of the Universal Peace Federation St Vincent Kay Bacchus-Browne is in South Korea attending the ascension ceremony (funeral) of Reverend Dr Sun Myung Moon.{{more}}

Reverend Moon, who died in South Korea on September 3 at age 92, was the founder of the Unification Church, also known as the “Moonies” and many global civic and cultural organizations devoted to world peace and the “establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth”.

A release from Bacchus-Browne said Moon taught that human life passes through three stages: “nine months in the womb, 100 years or so of life on this earth, and then our final home in the eternal world of spirit. He has said that the occasion of ascension into the heavenly realms should be one of celebration and commemoration.”

According to the release Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves and Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace have sent video messages of sympathy and commendation.

Many world leaders are travelling to South Korea to pay homage to Rev Moon or have sent messages of commendation, the release, said.

The funeral will be held on Friday, following which Moon will be buried on Mount Cheonseong in the northern South Korean province of Gyeonggi. In a statement, the church described the mountain as the “holy land” of the church.
