Camp Innovate It ends on high note

The first of its kind Film Making Summer Camp which ran from July 23 to August 4, called CAMP INNOVATE IT ended on a high note at the Greenhouse in Cane Grove with a Gala Awards and Closing Ceremony.{{more}} Screenings of the work done by the 25 young campers was put on for the parents of the youngsters who learned the rudiments of film making over the course of the camp.

Group as well as individual awards were presented to the youngsters in the areas of Editing, Best Animator, Best Animated Short, Best Original Score, Best Interview, Best News Report and Best Linear Sequence.

First timers to film making, Tarique John and Zinelle Mitchell were identified as emerging male and female talent, and best Actor and Actress awards went to Diaron Lewis and Jeneasia Mitchell who appeared in a 15 minute movie done by the entire camp called When it Rains. This was an adaptation of a part of an award winning play by David Darkie Williams who facilitated at the Camp in the area of Drama over the two week period.

Other facilitators included British film makers Rachel Meyrick. Yona Wiseman and Duncan Pickstock. Vincentian Film maker Akley Olton rounded out the teachers at Camp Innovate IT, all of whom were filled with praise for their young charges.

Senator Vynnette A. Frederick worked as master of ceremonies and brought the curtain down on a wonderful initial effort by the Film Production Collective which is intent on making this camp an annual event. The work done by the campers is available on Youtube.
