Campden Park man shot in back

Campden Park resident Andy Acosta is thankful to be alive, after being shot in the back one week ago.{{more}}

Acosta, a 23-year-old painter from the village of Bolomay in the South Leeward constituency, received a bullet to the lower left side of his back, sometime after 8 p.m. on July 26.

Acosta, told SEARCHLIGHT he was seated in an area known as Cherry Garden, when he was attacked by an unknown assailant.

“I been dey sit down by a cherry tree on a wooden seat; me and somebody been sit down and I just hear a shot go ‘bam’.

“And I tried to get up, but I fall back down, and one of me friend name ‘Bobo’ run come and grab me and drag me up by the light and somebody else name ‘Facet’ come and help me and carry me round by the road. Them stop a vehicle and take me to the hospital.”

The young man believes that he was singled out in the attack, and believes that it was an act of jealousy that caused his assailant to harm him.

He, however, told SEARCHLIGHT that he was undaunted by the act of aggression, and intends to live his life as usual.

“It ain’t scare me, me ain’t intimidated by this. I just going rest meself and make sure everything is back to normal and thing.”

Acosta is thankful that his life was spared in the ordeal and is also grateful to his friends who were there to rush him to the hospital.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the shooting was not the only tragic incident to take place that night in Campden Park.

Sources say that a man was chopped about his body, shortly after the shooting attack, in a nearby village.

The two incidents are not believed to be related.(JJ)
