SVGBC joins Invest SVG Internship Programme

The nation’s investment promotions agency, Invest SVG, is creating quite a stir with its Secondary Schools’ Summer Internship Progromme (SSSIP). The programme, which was launched last year, saw four students interning at Invest SVG for one month during the July/August vacation.{{more}}

In 2012, Invest SVG has expanded its programme to include other business houses. Earlier this month, the agency announced the partnership of Erica’s Country Style, Mountain Top Springs, IKTV, General Employees Cooperative Credit Union (GECCU), National Insurance Services (NIS), and the International Financial Services Authority (IFSA).

The coming on board of these partners has resulted in an increase in the number of students that will be able to access the programme. At a press conference held earlier this month, Invest SVG announced that in 2012 the programme will accommodate 10 students.

Since that announcement, queries and applications have been pouring into the agency, and the public has taken note. So much so that St Vincent and the Grenadines Broadcasting Corporation (SVGBC) has signed on as the newest SSSIP partner, with the willingness to accommodate two more students.

This latest addition now brings the total number of students that the programme can accommodate to 12, eight more than last year’s programme.

Invest SVG expresses its gratitude to SVGBC and commends the company on recognizing the importance of such initiatives. It also encourages other establishments to answer the call of corporate responsibility and for them to promote programmes that will contribute meaningfully towards youth development in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Students are reminded that the deadline for the submission of applications is June 29 at 4:00 p.m. EST, and all applications must be submitted to Invest SVG.

This year’s programme will run from July 16 to August 10.
