Shemar tied with three other students for first place in General Paper, with a score of 96.67 per cent.

He placed 5th for boys and 12th overall.

“Although I didn’t get in the top ten, I still feel great about what I achieved,” he told SEARCHLIGHT.

Looking back at preparations for the exams, Shamar said he did his usual revision of his school work and was fully prepared on the day of exams.

As if it were yesterday, the young lad said there is one question he clearly remembers.

That question was, “Which Caribbean country was the first to gain independence?”

His response was “Haiti”.

Looking forward to next term, Shamar says he is presently in a relaxed mode, but is mentally prepared for the task ahead.

His mother, Dasilca Cato-Morgan says she is pleased with her son’s performance overall.

“He has made us proud and I know he has potential,” she said. (AA)
