C.R.D. Holdings Ltd. sponsors Canouan Whitsuntide Regatta

C.R. D. Holdings Limited was the Sponsor of Prizes in the Canouan Whitsuntide Regatta, which was held in Canouan from May 24 to 28.{{more}} C.R.D. Holdings Limited has been sponsoring the Regatta for the past twelve years and this year the sponsorship was increased from EC$10,000 to EC$12,350.

The Activities kicked off with a Cultural Extravaganza on May 24 at the Sailing Club, and addresses were made by Area Representative Terrance Ollivierre. Father Frank Garraway of the Anglican Church blessed the Event.

Dancers form the Canouan Government School performed, the Sayzon Modelling Group made appearances and Adam Sobers and Damian Harry entertained the crowd with their Raga Soca numbers.

There was also a Domino match between King’s Domino Team and the Sailing Club. That match was won by King’s team.

In Class 1, ‘Aqua Finn 1’ captained by Clyde Laidlow was the winner, while ‘D Shark’, captained by Hudson Williams took first place in Class 2. The Class 3 winner was ‘Scope International’, captained by Damian Harry. In Class 4, first place was taken by ‘More Worries” captained by S Farrell, while the Class 5 winner was ‘Limbo Dance’ captained by L. Daniel. In Class 6, ‘Black Berry’, captained by O. Ollivierre was first with ‘Angelica’ captained by L DeRoche winning the 3 foot gum boat race.

Besides the sailing events, other activities held over the weekend were a Foam Fete, Wet Fete, Back In Time Dance and a Family Fun day.

The Presentation Ceremony took place at the Canouan Sailing Club on Monday 28th May at 7:15 p.m.

C.C.A. Limited – Public Relations/ Employee Relations Officer – Roxanne Israel presented the prizes to the various winners in the Sailing competition.
