This update will be done by CEO of the International Airport Development Company Dr Rudy Matthias and Chief Project Engineer Jeffrey Cato, at the launch of a fundraising committee, dubbed ‘Friends of the Argyle International Airport New York’. The committee’s motto is: Fly direct.

The launch will take place at Friends of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday. According to SVG’s Consul General in New York Selmon Walters, Saturday’s Town Hall meeting has been widely promoted and they are expecting a huge turnout with Vincentians coming from other parts of the US, as well as Canada.

Walters says that at Saturday’s launch, those present will be asked to make a contribution at that time and thereafter for the next year the committee would be involved in various forms of fundraising in aid of the Argyle International Airport.

A packed itinerary has been planned for the visiting team from the IADC, including an informal meeting of Vincentians at Veejays in New York. Dr Matthias and Mr Cato will also attend a church service at a Methodist church in Brooklyn, where they are expected to meet other Vincentians. They will also pay a visit to Ground Zero, among other activities.

The two left the state on May 15. The trip is expected to last 6 days.
