Vincentian plant pathologist cops Science and Technology award

Professor Leonard O’Garro, a Vincentian plant pathologist, has received his award for Science and Technology from the Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence.{{more}}

Professor O’Garro received a cheque for TT$ half-million, a medal, and a citation at the NAPA Auditorium on Saturday, May 5.

The other Laureates are Paula Lucie-Smith (Public & Civic Contributions), an educator from Trinidad & Tobago and George Simon (Arts & Letters), an archaeologist and painter from Guyana.

The announcements of Laureates was made at the TATIL Building in Port of Spain by Michael Mansoor, the chairman of the ANSA Caribbean Awards’ regional Eminent Persons Panel selection committee. This is the fifth set of Laureates named since the awards were launched in 2005. The first set of Laureates was named in 2006. The Awards were initially biennial, but have been, since 2010, annual.
