The Film Showcase is the brain-child of Cuban Film-Maker Rigaberto Lopez, who is determined to spread the word throughout the Caribbean and Latin American about the wealth of cinema in the region.

He got immediate support, and this year the Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase will be “travelling” throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines from May 18 to May 31.

The Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers, which was organized last September, has been selected and appointed by the Havana-based organizers to co-ordinate the Film Showcase activities in St Vincent and the Grenadines. It is being held in conjunction with the Embassy of Cuba and the UWI Open Campus.

The Premier Night of the Film Showcase takes place at the UWI Open Campus. The Film Showcase will also be hosted at the Poetry Café at Mahogany Square on Sunday, May 20; at the SVG National Trust-Heritage Hall and at the SVG Community College during the week, as well as at some Learning Resource Centres. Other dates and venues will be announced later.
