Small was already in training for Miss SVG pageant 2012

Before Shanika Small went missing last year, the young woman was already in training for the 2012 Miss SVG pageant.{{more}}

This was revealed by chairperson of the Beauty Shows Committee Cheryl Rodriguez, at the meet the media session for the Miss SVG 2012 beauty pageant, last Saturday at the Young Island Resort.

On October 30, 2011, a decomposed body was found in the Dauphine-Welcome area and was suspected of being that of Small, who had gone missing on October 21.

Since that time, local investigators have been awaiting the results of DNA testing to determine whether the remains were those of Small.

In light of the tragic turn of events, Rodriguez said that a tribute would be paid to Small at the Miss SVG show come June 2, at Victoria Park.

“She was one of the girls who was interviewed in August 2011 and she was already in training…While I was away on vacation last November, I [heard] what had happened to Shanika…,” Rodriguez said.
