Digicel’s 2012 Fun Walk hailed a success

As part of the fun that is Digicel’s annual Fun Walk, a number of persons were recognized and rewarded for their participation in the event, which took place last Tuesday.{{more}}

Recognized for being the first male to finish the walk was Malcolm Webb, while Charmaine Lewis was recognized for being the first female to finish. They were both rewarded with Blackberry 8520 handsets.

The second male to complete the walk was Leroy Richardson and the second female was Sheba Baptiste. They were both given Nokia C1-01 cellular phones. Coming in third for males was Kerwin Jackson, while the third female was Karen Bascombe. They were both given a one-month membership at the Fitness Quest gym and EC$50 credit.

Damalia Cockburn, the youngest person to complete the walk, received a savings account valued at EC$100 from the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines. She also has the opportunity to take two coaching sessions at the Grass Root Tennis Club (GTC).

Godwin and Marquita Daniel were the first couple to finish, while Godwin was the oldest person to complete the walk. They were each given EC$50 credit, while Godwin received a six pack of Vitamalt and EC$50 credit.

The largest group to take part came from the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines, while the second largest group came from the St Vincent Electricity Services (Vinlec). They were rewarded with drinks compliments the St Vincent Brewery Ltd.

Channel Manager and Head of Digicel’s Social Club Gershom Dick said that the annual Fun Walk was a success, as it attracted over 100 participants.

This year, proceeds from the Fun Walk will go towards providing ten one-year scholarships to successful students in the 2012 Common Entrance Examinations.

The Fun Walk began at 5:30 a.m. from the Grassroot Tennis Club’s (GTC) parking lot, located at Murray’s Road. Participants walked to Cane Hall, over to Belair, down the Vigie Highway and back to the GTC’s Parking Lot.

The event this year received sponsorship from the St Vincent Brewery, Right Stuff, Sweetie Pie Bakery, Grand View Grill, Coreas Hazells Inc, Scotia Bank, Sprotts Distributors, Bickles, French Verandah, CFL (SVG) Holdings, Vincy Gold Spring Water, Subway, C.K. Greaves, W. J. Abbotts and the Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC).

The Fun Walk was held in collaboration with the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Social Club.

Prizes were handed over by Country Manager at Digicel Sonia Polius and Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche.
