Nathan Lawrence is “King of the Park” again

Nathan Lawrence is “King of the Park” again

Nathan Lawrence of Kingstown Park can be rightly called the “King of Kite Flying” in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as he successfully defended his 2011 crown at Karib Cable’s 2012 Annual Kite Flying Competition.{{more}}

Lawrence, flying a kite named “Mickey Mouse” and measuring over ten feet in length, claimed the “King of the Park” title after flying away with the largest kite category at the 14th Annual Kite Flying Competition held at the Diamond Estates on Sunday, April 15.

Lawrence walked away with a handful of prizes, including the 1st place trophy, some complimentary gifts from Premier Distributors, an Acer notebook, along with a six-pack of Vita-Malt.

Upon being named “King of the Park”, a delighted Lawrence said: “I was really looking forward to defending my title this year. After all the years of taking part in this competition, to be now crowned king twice in successive years is a wonderful feeling that words cannot describe. I was on Karib Cable’s Internet and saw the “Mickey Mouse” design and thought, this will definitely give me a winning chance this year. I am thankful to Karib Cable for continuing with this family tradition. That is why I registered my son today who is only nine months old and who also won the “Youngest Flyer” title. I feel real proud to be called “King of the Park”, once again.

As far as future participation is concerned, Lawrence assured: “I’ll definitely be back to defend my title again next year and to see what great prizes I can win again!”

Other winners at the grand family-oriented activity include: Ronnie Mars – “The Smallest Kite”; Nathaniel Lawrence – “The Youngest Flyer”; Kingsley Davis – The Oldest Flyer; Evonique Pierre – “The Best Female Flyer”- Gail Smith and family – “The Most Family Members”; Jergen Gabriel – “The Most Original Kite”; Leron Pope – “Under 10 Category”; Davidson Smith – “Age 11-15 years Category”; and tied for the “Age 16+ Category” were Elijah Creese and Corselle Smith.

Vance Garraway, Marketing Executive of Karib Cable commented: “I am extremely pleased with the intensity and professionalism of the participants and the large crowd that came out to watch the kites and to enjoy a family fun day. This is just what Karib Cable’s kite flying event is all about. Plans have already begun to stage the 15th Annual Event in 2013 where Karib Cable will sponsor another enjoyable day of kite flying for all family members throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I also want to say thank you to all the participating sponsors; Vita-Malt, Premier Distributors, Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Subway for being part of our 14th Annual Kite Flying Event.”
