Vincentians to celebrate World Poetry Day this year

The Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers will be celebrating World Poetry Day this year, and members will join Poets and Poetry lovers all over the world in commemorating the UNESCO declared Day.{{more}}

The Association will be holding a radio call in programme, a poetry evening, and a young poets competition.

The poets will compete for the Poet of the Day Award, the winner of which will have their work published in a book by an affiliate organization either in Cuba or the United States of America.

The winner will also be invited to attend the 22nd Annual Cuba International Book Fair in Havana next February (2013).

A release from the organization said the Aim of the Association is to make Poetry popular and enjoyable. Tea-Meeting Prose would also be welcomed, in an effort to revive that Literary Oral Tradition in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Association has invited the Ministry of Education to join them in the World Poetry Day activities in schools and other educational institutions throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
