PM, wife take in Nine Mornings Festival
Just hours before he was scheduled to take a two-week trip overseas, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves paid a surprise visit to the opening of the Nine Mornings activities, which was taking place at Heritage Square in Kingstown.{{more}}
Dr Gonsalves, accompanied by his wife Eloise and members of his security team, moved through the crowd at the Square and greeted persons in the audience, who came out for last Fridayâs opening of the event, unique to St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Before exiting the area, the Prime Minister was invited on stage by the Bowmans, who were at the time entertaining the audience. He joined in a rendition of âEveryday should be like a holiday,â and other Christmas songs.
Dr Gonsalves took the opportunity to extend Christmas greetings to those in attendance and the nation on a whole.
He indicated that he would be leaving the state the next day, and would be spending Christmas in Bethlehem at the Church of the Nativity, built on the spot where Jesus Christ is believed to have been born.
The Prime Minister also indicated that he will visit the European countries Georgia and Azerbaijan, where he will be involved in talks with government officials in areas relating to health, training, culture and airport development.
On his trip, he will be accompanied by Mrs Gonsalves, their son Storm and a member of his security detail.
He is expected to return to St Vincent and the Grenadines on January 3 next year.
