Angel Tree program back for a second year
The Angel Tree program is back for a second year.
The program, which sees the children of persons currently incarcerated at Her Majestyâs Prisons receiving toys and other gifts at Christmas,{{more}} is appealing for assistance from the general public and private sector to make this program even more successful than its inaugural year 2010.
The program was initiated by the Prison Fellowship of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with Executive Director Costian Cupid indicating that the program is growing from strength to strength.
âWe have over 70 children this year, up from the 30 we provided gifts for last year.â
âWe are very grateful for the assistance which we received last year from all of our donors, and we are once again asking for donations from the general public in order to achieve donations of gifts, foodstuff and other items.â
The donations will be handed over to the children on December 19 at a thanksgiving ceremony scheduled to take place at the Chebar Evangelical Assembly at Rose Place.
Prison Fellowship, an international organization which gives spiritual and other assistance to both offenders and victims of crime, was officially launched here last year.
The Angel Tree program is part of its program, which focuses on the children of prisoners.(JJ)
