NIS Sports Club donates STIHL vacuum cleaner to MCMH

Cleaning at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital has been made easier with the addition of a STIHL vacuum cleaner that was donated by the National Insurance Service (NIS) Sports Club.{{more}}

The vacuum cleaner, valued EC$900, was handed over to the hospital administrator, Cuthbert Knights, on Tuesday, October 25, at the hospital.

According to Knights, the donation of the vacuum cleaner was made possible following a visit to the hospital by one of the club’s committee members, Dexter Jack, who identified the need for the piece of cleaning equipment.

“He identified the need for the equipment and in less than a month he got back to me and said they would make the donation before the 26th of this month (October),” Knight explained.

Knight said the vacuum will assist in improving the visual appearance and cleanliness of the facility.

“We have been doing dusting and cleaning our wards and corridors with the use of brooms and a very lengthy pole that can reach the high ceilings. This vacuum will allow us to do this more effectively, because it has an extension of about 9 feet.

The way the vacuum works, it will help to control the dust and cobwebs…” Knight further added.

The NIS Sports Club has been in existence for some 20 years and has made donations to various organizations in the past, and according to the club’s president, Felix Bowman, “this donation is one way of letting the public know the club’s commitment to supporting a needy cause.”

“We always think it’s important to give back to the community in some way and it was an excellent opportunity to assure the public that we are here,” he added.

Bowman further noted that he hopes the club’s contribution will go a long way in improving the experience of the patients at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.(AA)
