Digicel sponsors Union Island Easterval

Digicel has, for the fifth consecutive year, sponsored the Union Island Easterval celebrations, scheduled to run from this Sunday, April 17, to Monday, April 25.{{more}}

On Thursday, April 7, Country Manager Sonia Polius and Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche journeyed to Union Island where they handed over to Chairman of Union island Easterval Committee Lesroy Noel a cheque for EC$20,000.

Thanking Digicel, Noel said that the money will go a long way in making the Easterval Celebrations a success. He added that the money will be used to, among other things, provide entertainment at the Reggae Meets Soca show which this year will see performances by Jamaican Chuck Fender (main act), Soca Artistes ‘Mr. Killa’, ‘Jay’ and ‘Bling’ from Grenada and a number of Vincentian soca artistes including ‘Icon’. Vibes International, a disc jockey from Grenada will also entertain the gathering. This show will take place on Sunday, April 24, at the Ashton Sporting Complex.

Other activities include a foam fete on Wednesday, April 20, a Cultural night on Thursday, April 21, white fete on Friday, April 22, a sports day (races, netball and basketball) and a one day regatta on Saturday, April 23, Miss Easterval on Saturday ,April 23, (seven girls from Trinidad, Barbados, St. Vincent, Union Island, Petit Martinique, Carriacou and Grenada) and J’ouvert celebrations on Monday April 25.

Marketing Executive at Digicel Justin John said that Digicel is always supportive of cultural events in the Grenadines as the company realizes that these events are very important to the public.
