A reception was also held to welcome the Ambassador, on Monday evening, where she was officially welcomed to the country. Other members of Government, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Douglas Slater and members of the Diplomatic Corps, were in attendance.

Slater, welcoming the Ambassador, stated that the government’s foreign policy seeks to strengthen relations with traditional partners while establishing relations with non-traditional ones. He also noted that during the oil boom of 1930’s and 1940’s, a number of Vincentians went to Netherlands territories like Curacao and Aruba to work, and as a result many Vincentians have relatives in those territories today.

He expressed hope that this partnership can revitalize the connections between the People of the Netherlands and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Ambassador Moeniralam said that she is happy to serve SVG and that Education is high on her agenda. She has visited the SVG Community College and has pledged to assist in the Art. Programme at the College.

Moeniralam will serve Trinidad and Tobago and the rest of the Eastern Caribbean.(OS)
