Sam discharged in relation to death of boyfriend

Just a few days after being picked up by police in relation to the stabbing death of her boyfriend, 18-year-old Kianna Sam was discharged from police custody on Tuesday, February 22.{{more}}

On Thursday, February 17, 21-year-old Gerrard Acquah was involved in an argument with Sam, which escalated into a skirmish shortly after 7 p.m. in Clifton, Union Island.

During the skirmish, Acquah sustained a stab wound to his neck. The Canadian-born Acquah, who is the grandson of hotelier King Mitchell, reportedly drove himself to the nearby Health Centre, awash in blood, where he succumbed to his injury moments later.

SEARCHLIGHT was reliably informed that a Coroner’s Inquest will now be held to determine the cause of Acquah’s death and also to determine if anyone is culpable in his death.

Acquah and Sam’s relationship, which relatives described as “on again off again”, was said to have been characterised by frequent fights.

The two were parents to a two-month old son.
