New Pm will have to be creative – Gonsalves

Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart will have to be creative to face the challenging times ahead, says Dr.Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

When contacted at his home Sunday afternoon for a comment on the passing of David Thompson, former Prime Minister of Barbados, Gonsalves described Stuart as a bright, experienced man who has some “very good people around him.”

He acknowledged the strength of the Barbados Public Service, stating it is a sound one. Gonsalves, however, noted that he believes that Stuart will face a situation that is not a very easy one.

“And now that Owen Arthur has become the Leader of the Opposition, Owen is formidable, I mean so too is Mia.

“But Owen on the economic issues, having been the Minister of Finance for so long, he will have a lot of probing questions to ask of Freundel and the new Minister of Finance, Chris Sinckler,” said Gonsalves. He contended that they are all able people, “but it is a difficult time.”(HN)
