Venezuelans assist with new power station generators

The early completion of the installation of new generators at the Lowmans Bay Power Plant is not only something the St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd and the Government are proud of – but also the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.{{more}}

This recent installation will double the current generating capacity, making the plant the premier producer of electricity on VINCLEC’s power grid.

This forms phase two of the company’s generation expansion project, which was financed in part by a special credit by the government of Venezuela to the sum of US$18 million.

In a statement, the Venezuelan Ambassador Yoel Perez Marcano said that his government will continue to ensure the supply of fuel, at special prices, for thermo electrical operations under the PetroCaribe Energy Agreement.

Marcano also said that this highly beneficial development will “improve quality and safety of electricity in St Vincent and the Grenadines”.

He added: “We hope for…the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, in mark of the process of integration in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
