No alliance, says O’Neal

Leader of the SVG Green Party, Ivan O’Neal, has made it unequivocally clear that his party does not have any intention of forming an alliance with the New Democratic Party (NDP).{{more}}

O’Neal in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT made the declaration which comes one week after the party’s General Secretary, Ordan Graham, went on record as saying that the Green Party was not ruling out a possible alliance with the NDP.

“We are going along as an independent party,” O’Neal told SEARCHLIGHT.

“There are going to be three parties contesting the next general elections.”

“We do not want to piggy back and we are not going to piggy back on anyone,” the leader of the Green Party said, adding that it was his intention to serve the people within Parliament, not outside.

He contended that his party’s agenda was far different to that of either the NDP and the governing Unity Labour Party (ULP).

O’Neal added that the Green Party was currently in the process of selecting possible candidates and reiterated that there was never going to be any alliance formed.

“The people are fed up of the political tennis, and the country is not moving forward,” he said. (DD)
