SVG holds workshop on WTO Service Negotiations

A workshop to sensitize service providers on World Trade Organization (WTO) Services Negotiations will begin here tomorrow.{{more}}

The workshop will run from Wednesday July 21 to Friday 23, 2010, 8:00am – 4:00pm daily at the training room of Joachim and Associates, Murray’s Road. Up to forty professional service providers from the private and public sectors and NGOs including accountants, architects, entertainers, information and communication technology specialists, bankers, trade and investment specialists and musicians will participate.

The workshop is being organized through the ACP MTS programme funded by the European Union, BKP Development Research and Consulting in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Participants will be offered an in depth analysis and current status of the services negotiation in the WTO as well as the commercial opportunities for services supplies of SVG. It is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding and knowledge of the state of play in the services negotiations of the WTO; the domestic rules for professional services and the development priorities of the services sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Opening remarks will be given by Sir Louis Straker, Minsiter of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade, and the sessions will be facilitated by Ramesh Chaitoo, and Ayanna Young.
