Adventist National Youth Association back up and running with Jesus

After nearly two years of dormancy, the Adventist National Youth Association (ANYA) was revived on Saturday June, 12 with an Induction Service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kingstown.{{more}}

The service, held under the theme: “Hand in hand with Jesus we go” saw the induction of a new executive that will head the affairs of the group over the next two years.

President of ANYA, Rohan Providence noted that they have been battling back and forth to get the executive up and running and with the guidance of God, it has been worth it.

Describing the event as a “momentous occasion”, Providence added that the group was “pregnant” with ideas and had a lot to offer the youths in the St Vincent region. “We come prepared to work on behalf of the young people, but we also come here seeking your support,” Providence stated.

The church service also heard beautiful renditions from the Sanctuary Voices Youth Choir.

Delivering a fiery exhortation, Director of Youth, Religious Liberty, and Health Ministries, Pastor Dr. Clive Dottin of Trinidad and Tobago, told the new executive that they had a responsibility to a higher calling and that their work was cut out for them.

“Unless you have the spirit of competency, you will not be a success…You need God in everything you do, no matter what,” Dottin urged.

A passionate Dottin noted that the group must have a willingness to help guide young people on the correct path. “You have to be part of a missionary action group and you are called to do God’s work because you are young,” Dottin said.

Speaking of the decline in morals and “bankruptcy of values”, Pastor Dermoth Baptiste, in his remarks, said that with a population of over 30,000 Adventists in St Vincent, the church must present a unique message to all and sundry.

Plans are already in the pipeline for the new executive and a march and rally will be staged on July 11, 2010 in Barrouallie.
