Digicel sponsored Fish Night heads to Barrouallie

Fisherman’s Day 2010 activities continue this Friday with the second Digicel sponsored Fish Night in Barrouallie.{{more}}

The first Fish Night event was held last Friday at the Calliaqua Playing Field. Marketing Manager at Digicel, Juno DeRoche, said that the company has been affiliated with Fish Night for the last two years.

“Fish Nights bring the communities together, and we think that is a good thing”, said DeRoche, while adding that fishing and fish dishes are part of Vincentian culture, “and Digicel likes to take the opportunity to show support to any cultural aspect of Vincentian life.”

“This is just our way of supporting something positive and something that promotes healthy living,” stressed DeRoche.

Hundreds of Vincentians gathered at the event where they sampled the various fish dishes. A fish night will also be held in Layou leading up to Fisherman’s Day on Monday, May 24.

This year’s Fisherman’s Day activities are being held under the theme: Feeding One Billion Hungry, and are being organised by the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries.
