The distraught man related his story to SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

He said it was around the beginning of last week that he began to hear rumours that his daughter was pregnant.

“I ain’t tek it for nothing,” he said, was his reaction when a woman approached him and told him that she heard he was going to be a grandfather.

He said he then heard from another person that his daughter was pregnant, and yet another person informed him that they saw his daughter, her mother and the man who allegedly got her pregnant standing in the yard of the man’s house speaking.

“Up to (that) time she never came to me and tell me anything,” the man said, referring to the girl’s mother.

He said he then made a report to the police.

The man said he then went to his daughter’s school where he received reports that she had been absent for 32 days in the last school term.

With tears streaming down his face, he explained that the child was taken to a doctor and it was confirmed that she was twelve weeks pregnant.

With the mother has still not given him an explanation, the man said he tried speaking to his daughter, who also refused to tell him who got her pregnant. “I tried to talk to she, but she ain’t telling me who.”

Still visibly shaken, the man related that friends and other persons have, however, been telling him the man who is responsible for the pregnancy. He added that he knows the man, who he says is about forty-five years of age.

The man, who is the father of five, says he does not live with his daughter, but pays child support. He said the matter was reported to the Family Affairs Division.
