Community tourism groups receive technical assistance

The Ministry of Tourism is pleased to announce that as the European Union funded Tourism Development Project (TDP) comes to an end, Community tourism groups stand to benefit from useful site equipment from the TDP’s project unit.{{more}}

A handing over ceremony will take place on Friday, January 15, 2010, at 1:30pm at the Marion House. Representatives of the eight community tourism groups will be present to symbolically receive the equipment.

The Tourism Development Project involved the formation and development of eight Community Tourism Groups to manage the Tourism sites which were developed under it. The groups are: Barrouallie Tourism & Heritage Organization- Wallilabou Heritage Park; Owia Salt pond Management Committee- Owia Salt Pond; Black Point Eco-Tourism Development Organization- Black Point Historic & Recreation Park; North Leeward Tourism Association- Dark View Falls; Buccament Development Organization-Vermont Nature Trail; Cumberland Valley Eco-Tourism Organization- Cumberland Beach Recreation Park & Cumberland Nature Trail; Rawacou National Tourism Development Organization-Rawacou Recreation Park; Layou Heritage Tourism Organization- Layou Petroglyph Park.
