New music school opens

The Alphasound Studio Music Academy (ASMA) is officially open for business. The school was officially opened during a ceremony at the school’s headquarters at Kingstown Hill.

The school, which specializes in music education, will teach students how to play the piano, the guitar and other instruments.{{more}}

ASMA was originally called Piano Toy until 2007. Its Director, Curtis Williams, had been giving lessons at his home since 1989. The School caters for students from seven to seventy and promises to deliver quality theoretical and practical lessons to aspiring musicians from dedicated musicians and tutors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Williams urged persons to make ASMA their first choice when selecting a quality school. “Once you are going to invest in music education, Alphasound is the place to be,” he said.

The school currently has three tutors, and will start with piano and guitar lessons. However, according to Williams, they will include other instruments.

“Persons who come to Alphasound can be exposed to many different instruments. You come hoping to learn piano and guitar but you can also find base guitar and drums…” Williams explained.

He also called upon persons to assist the school in any way possible. Williams listed donations such as performance DVDs and CDs, sponsorship of students, contribution of instruments that need repair, monetary donations, inter alia, as being among the many needs.

The ceremony also included an open mic session where friends and family extended congratulations to the academy. The prayer of consecration was done by Pastor Dwayne Holder and the cutting of the ribbon was done by Grace Williams, the mother of Curtis Williams.
