The three acres of land were purchased by government from the heirs of Thelma Nelson. The fourteen lots of land range from 2,284 sq ft to 5335 sq ft.

According to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who is also the Area Representative, the lands were bought at $3.00 per sq ft and will be sold to these persons at 50 cents per sq ft. This move he pointed out is part of the 30th Anniversary of Independence gift.

The Prime Minister handed out the letters to the residents and promised to pay for the lands on which a spiritual Baptist Church will be built from his personal funds.

Dr Gonsalves said the government also intends to purchase other lands for distribution to prospective allotees among the poor and the working people. This is in addition to the Housing Programmes of the state-owned Housing and Land Development Corporation. (API)
