On Tuesday afternoon, past club member Grantley ‘Ipa’ Constance made a donation of $1,000 to the Paul’s Avenue-based club, which manager Marvin Fraser indicated will go towards the purchasing of gear and equipment.

The club, which boasts three teams: an under 17, female and premiere division team, is currently participating in the Brighton South East Tournament and the National Lotteries Authority Club Championships.

Regarded as one of the top teams in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Avenues has produced and has as members a number of national players, including Avenues captain and current national player Damal Francis. They recently dominated the JeBelle invitational tournament a few months ago.

Constance, also a former national calypso monarch, said that he hopes his contribution will assist the club, which has been around for more than four decades.

Fraser indicated that other donations have been received by Kye’s Vegetarian Cuisine, another entrepreneur in the Paul’s Avenue community. (JJ)
