This will run from October 12-30 and is open to one Grade 4 pupil per school.
Again deviating from its original format, this yearâs preliminary round will take the form of an essay competition. Each student will be required to submit an essay of between 400 and 450 words based on the topic: âWhy I am proud to be Vincentian.â
At the finals, scheduled for November 14, the selected students will read his/her submitted essay during the prepared round, along with a spontaneous passage. Two questions will follow this segment.
This yearâs competition is sponsored by St. Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC), the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) and the First Caribbean International Bank (FCIB).
Last year Heather Lakhram of the Kingstown Preparatory School took home the first prize, followed by Lyndsay
Dowers of the St. Maryâs Roman Catholic School, and Andre Martin of the Calliaqua Anglican School in the third place position.
