Karib Cable donated some 200 fruit trees ranging from mangoes, oranges and golden apples, among others, to residents within the community. Each one of the 180 students at the Rose Hall Government School (âRHGSâ) was provided with a fruit tree with the promise that their tree would be cared for and nurtured to maturity. The childrenâs commitment was confirmed with a resounding âYES SIRâ to both Thompson and to Rohan Chambers, teacher at the Rose Hall Government School.
Thompson stated that âit is nations like St. Vincent and the Grenadines that suffer most with respect to sea level rise and frequent hurricanesâ ,and to help counter this âthe RCDO and the students of the RHGS are playing their part by each of 180 students planting a fruit treeâ. He continued that the success of this initiative would not be possible without âKarib Cableâs vision and response with the assistance of these plantsâ.
Karib Cableâs Marketing Manager stated that âKarib Cable has a history of encouraging the positive development of our environment and contributing to a number of green initiatives. We were extremely pleased to be a part of such a plan that encourages young Vincentians to take responsibility for their environment and play a positive role.â
