CTU ICT Road Show Coming to St. Vincent & Grenadines

“Shaping Caribbean Communities” is the motto of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), a Caribbean inter-governmental organization dedicated to facilitating the development of the regional information and communications sector.{{more}}

Bernadette Lewis, Secretary General of the CTU, stated that the CTU is about to embark on an exciting journey to promote the innovative use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs). ICTs refer to a range of equipment and systems from mobile phones to communication broadcasting, print and online media, tools and systems used to connect people, manage business and run governments.

CTU officials, Lewis and Bevil Wooding, Programme Director, met with Charmaine Tappin-John and other officials from the Ministry of Telecommunications on Thursday, 10th September, to plan for the CTU ICT road show in St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

The CTU is partnering with the Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry to spearhead the Vincentian leg of the road show which will be held on the 20th and 21st October, 2009. So far, the road show has been to St. Kitts and Nevis and the CTU will visit 20 states in the region.

Wooding, Programme Director of the CTU road show, stated that the road show is not just an event or a series of events and that it is a very important initiative for the Caribbean region. According to Mr. Wooding, the road show is specially tailored to the unique requirements of each country that it visits.

The CTU hopes to target senior policy makers, industry regulators, ICT senior management, civil society representatives, youths, ICT specialists, entrepreneurs and business leaders from all industry sectors, regional and international ICT communicators.
