Students to examine CSME in Suriname
Some 25 tertiary level students of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will travel to Suriname next month, as part of a project to prepare youths to identify and develop responses to opportunities within the CARICOM Single Market and Economy – the C.S.M.E.{{more}}
The Project is being organized by the Barbados-based CSME Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat and funded under the Ninth EDF Caribbean Integration Support Programme.
During the mission, the Vincentian students will conduct research on key aspects of the CSME, including Movement of Skills, Movement of capital, Provision of Services and Free Movement of Goods.
At the end of the mission, students are expected to prepare a country report on the host country, Guyana, which will be published and placed in libraries, universities and on the CSME website. They will also present their findings to fellow students on their return home.
The mission is being held under the theme âStudents Engaging the CSME through Field Promotionâ and runs from September 13th to 19th.
The officer coordinating CSME activities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade – Sylvonne Jack, and Community College Lecturer – Debra Providence will accompany the students to Suriname.
As part of this programme, 25 students from Guyana will be visiting St. Vincent and the Grenadines from September 27th to October 3rd on a similar assignment.
