Rotary club holds hand over dinner
The Rotary Club of St. Vincent held its handover ceremony under the patronage of Governor General Sir Frederick N. Ballantyne at the Government House on Saturday, June 27th 2009.{{more}}
Past President Rotarian Brian George and his outgoing board of directors, handed over the leadership of the club to the new President for the year 2009/2010 Rotarian Kirk DaSilva and his incoming board, which for the first time in the history of the club included women. The new board of directors reads as follows:
Kirk DaSilva, President; Past President Reuben John, Vice President; Earl Tash, Secretary; Dawson Lewis, Treasurer; Past President Collin Boyle, PRO; Sonia Polius, Director of Community Service; Veronica DeSouza – Phillip, Director of Club Service; Lisa Casino, Director Vocational Service; Ken Onu, Director of International Service; Francois Truchot, President Elect; Immediate Past President Brian George; Past President Leroy Lewis,Sergeant at Arms.
Outgoing President of the club Brian George thanked his outgoing board of directors for a job well done. He stressed that it was their commitment and support that enabled him to accomplish a very successful year as president of the club.
With the new theme of Rotary International âThe Future of Rotary is in your handsâ President Kirk shared his optimism about the year ahead . He promises to make the upcoming year a success with inspiring leadership and hard work.
The highlight of the evening was the rendition of the National Anthem on pan by young Toni Pompey which was inspirational.
